    Hey Rafael, I just found a ‘bug?’ in Windows 7. In fact it’s a bug that I would like to have all the time.

    Do this:

    – Open explorer
    – Go to My Music (don’t close it after)
    – Right-click the explorer icon on the taskbar and pin it
    – Browse back to desktop from the same explorer Window
    – Go back to My Music
    – Unpin it from taskbar

    Now go back to Desktop from the same Window. Now everywhere you will go after doing this, the explorer icon on the taskbar will change everytime you go to another folder with a different icon. Like go back to My Music, the explorer icon on the taskbar will change to a music icon.

    This trick will no longer if you close the Explorer Window and open a new one, weird eh?

    Nice find! – Confirmed with Windows 7 x32.
    Wonder what causes it to happen?

    How can a secret be a secret if it is shared to everyone? This sounds like propaganda, pushing Microsoft proprietary software!
    With open source free software, it’s already free! So does 50% more really sound like the better deal? LOL …

    Brad (whatever your real name is), please refrain from posting your Windows 7 Sins-oriented crap on my blog. Only warning.

    Hi Rafael, where’s the stylish door stop? I can’t find it anywhere at Amazon…

    @DanielRemains That isn’t a bug, it’s desired behavior that occurs whenever Explorer (or any app that doesn’t do anything special with the taskbar icon) is NOT pinned to the taskbar and has only one window open. The taskbar button will always show the window icon in this case.

  • DanielRemains

    With the taskbar settings set to ‘Never Combine items’ yes but not with ‘Always combine’ on.

    @Phillip Munn No such thing as x32… x64 is 64-Bit and x86 is 32-Bit :L :L :L
