InfoWorld: Ha ha ha, suckers. Randall Kennedy at InfoWorld is making some noise this week, with claims Microsoft delayed the Windows 7 beta until early 2009 due to problems he identified in the alpha, developmental-copy given out at PDC this year. The beta was originally scheduled to launch in early 2009. Yes, you read correctly. Nothing really changed, the guy is just crazy.

My friend Bryant, who provided a more detailed analysis of Randall’s spew, manage to get Galen Gruman, Executive Editor at InfoWorld, to claim Randall’s post was all just a joke (in the comments section). Ha! Good one guys!

Just to set the record straight: Randall’s post on the delay of the public Windows 7 beta was a JOKE. Sorry some folks didn’t get it; perhaps it was too “inside” and assumed readers were following the various Randall-bashing and Microsoft-bashing posts out there at multiple sites (yes, it has gone both ways). Of course we know the public beta for early 2009 remains on that vague schedule and that the “pre-beta” releases for those Microsoft selects to give earlier release to are separate.

Executive Editor, InfoWorld

I can’t understand why Randall is going on joking. His review of Windows 7 was the worst I read, and joking he is not getting back some credibility he lost with that article.

I like this blog more and more every post.

As a journalist myself, it’s kind of discomfiting seeing this guy (and his executive editor) hoisted on his own petard.

    But, I’ll get through it…

I don’t believe this was ment as a joke… Randall is just an idiot for writting stupid articles that are based on his own MS bashing opinion and this “joke” for covering up his stupidity only proves that he’s an idiot even more…

    I agree with Martien.

Sounds like they are just trying to do the same things the bush administration has done for bush.

Since when does someone in the position that Kennedy is in as a “supposed” reviewer, review something and then later on (but only when confronted by his piers) say “I was only joking !”
His boss should have said “Mate your credability is shot …… your fired” instead his boss backs him up. In my view they should BOTH be sacked !!
Infoworld is now also not credable either !!

As Paul T. said this guy was an absolute idiot at the PDC, I agree and his constant MS Bashing has got to end.
All three Alphas that I have used have been nearly flawless in performance, they work on very old, old machines!
The only flaw that I have found is due to my graphics card, but work on all test machines that I have played with.
I love this site Rafael…and will there be an ALKI for Vista released! LOL

My name is weird. I have fun on the innanets, too… Just kidding!

…no, but seriously; my name really is weird.

    infoworld is a big joke

a bunch of whiners , they are the same guys who kept crying like kids for xp and back in the days they bushed xp they contradict themself

The tragic thing is that long, long ago, Infoworld was actually a credible and highly respected source for industry news. Now, between the bizarre Windows XP “petition”, Randall C. Kennedy’s screeds and his boss defending this as humor, they’re now less respected as a news source than the latest incarnation of ValleyWag.

I think that ridiculous “Save XP” campaign their shout about was a big joke too…

  15. LOLLERSKATES December 1, 2008 at 11:58 am

LOL! MAN, that article of Randall’s was HILARIOUS!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OMG, I JUST FELL OUT OF MY CHAIR LAUGHING AT THAT! What a GREAT joke! How could ANY of you NOT get that joke!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH…

…see how f@#$%&* ridiculous that sounds, Galen? You putz. lol.

  16. Neil December 1, 2008 at 6:02 pm

I love the way how “supposed anonymous” people are writing here and saying it was a joke. Something smells really fishy about them. Like they are the people themselves trying to “downplay” the issue.
It simply comes down to the fact that Mr. Kennedy and his boss should be sacked ! !
Mr. Kennedy for his article … that wasn’t a joke and he knows it, and his boss for making up the “excuse” !

  17. Chris December 2, 2008 at 8:40 pm

who the hell reads infoworld still?

i mean seriously their pretty much crap anyway

  18. JDahmer December 22, 2008 at 6:07 pm

People like Randall Kennedy deserve to be shot. After that, we should rape his wife, finger f* his 6 year old girl, enter his dog into a dog fighting ring, and p*ss on his disabled grandma’s face.

    Ha ha… JUST KIDDING!!!
