I have just one question about all this multi-touch panning stuff.

I have to clean my monitor enough as it is without touching the darn thing all the time.

My mom told me to stop touching it since touching it too much would make you go blind. That remains to be seen, but eating lunch at your desk and then getting KFC grease on your multi-touch panning monitor sounds really yucky!

How will they manage it? Will we all just sanitize our hands continuously with wipes or what?

yeah doesn't work on a lenovo x61 multitouch wacom tablet.

I assume the driver factor is very critical to it working and right now there isnt any for it.

Rafael,

Thanks for unlocking all of this stuff. It makes the build worth testing all the more. Everything was enabled successfully and works great. Keep up the good work.

@Infoholic: Depends if the hardware is present or not. Multi-touch is hardware dependent. Some computers (Like the Dell Latitude XT) have multi-touch hardware which just isn't enabled in the drivers. Others, just don't have the hardware.

it's enabled on my Dell Latitude XT tablet, I had to download some pre beta N-Trig drivers made for windows 7 to get the full multi touch, it's not iPhone smooth yet but it's there.

Well, been checking back since the 3rd, and still waiting for the new unlocker. But anyway, I was wondering if you know of any way to increase the size of Aero Peek's live-thumbnail. They are rather small past 1024x768, or if you even just know which file controls Aero Peek besides explorer, if their is one. I know Vista has a thumbnail sizer, but, as predicted, it don't work on Windows 7 build.

Would this require just a driver upgrade to support multi-touch or all new hardware?

Multi touch requires hardware support because the surface has to be able to register multiple points. Most tablets do not support this unfortunately.

I have a Toshiba M700 Notebook / Tablet PC. I am keen to try Windows 7 on it using a separate hard-drive.

I wonder if the existing Vista touch and pen tablet drivers from Wacom will work in Windows 7 and provide access to multi-touch.

I am thinking that the drivers will work but only in "single-touch" mode.

I see what you mean. But it's kind of annoying to see people posting that it's not working for them when there literally was only one variable to change in the few commands he posted (changing Rafael's account name with your own). If they ended up messing up their installs, it'd only be because of their own stupidity...but maybe i'm being too hard on the noobs, lol.

@Timothy
There is nothing hard about doing everything in command line..If you know what your doing at least..Which I do...I was just worried that all the noobs out there like you were talking about would go and screw their installs up and then get all whiny and cause a mess...I guess thats why Raf is taking his time and covering all his bases.

NextWindow has release multitouch driver for HP TouchSmart PC with Windows 7 here: http://www.nextwindow.com/windriver/download_confirm.html. Without the driver, HP TouchSmart PC can only handle 1 touch.

I'm wondering if you can get all Touchscreen Monitors on Newegg to handle multitouch.

I don't see what was so hard about copying and pasting the commands he posted. It was not hard at all. If most of you really had trouble with his first tool, maybe you shouldn't be doing this in the first place.

Why does MS only enable panning gestures for touch input? I would love it if they would enable this for the good old mouse, too. I use the grab and drag add-in for Firefox and I love it - the momentum makes it easy to flick up and down through the page. It's so much easier to scroll around than with the scoll bar and/or mouse wheel.

In fact, wouldn't it be awesome if MS made it so that everything - scroll bars, windows, icons - basically anything you can drag - had momentum? It would give a much more physical 'real-world' feel to the OS...
