Hellloooo TGTSoft? Anyone home?

Some of you may know TGTSoft, a company that sells a glorified uxtheme.dll patcher for $20 a pop. Does anyone still use their StyleXP software? I noticed today their storefront SSL certificate has expired.

So we have...

  • ... a lack of software updates since Windows XP SP2 (read: StyleXP doesn't work on Windows XP SP3)
  • ... a lack of any new content
  • ... and an expired SSL certificate

It's official. This company is deader than a doughnut.

If I was still using my old computer, I would still be using StyleXP. I enjoyed their product.
Since I got this laptop with Vista on it, I have been looking forward to TGTSoft coming out with “StyleVista” but alas, they may have just decided to close.
You would think they would say something on their site about future developments, if there were any.

I understand you choose to change the theme files yourself. Its not that I have a problem with swapping system files, I guess I just got use to having a program do it for me. Though it looks like I have to do it manually now if I want to get rid of this ugly green and not have to deal with Stardock.
For that I thank you for being of help.

hello stylexp user & stevie, you have something to do this for vista, for free – its’ called “vistaglazz” and you can go grab it at h**p://www.codegazer.com/vistaglazz/

disclaimer: I am only a user (and spreader) of vistaglazz, I am not affiliated with its maker(s) and disown all responsibilities for what may happen to your system as a result of the use, or misuse, of the above program.

PS I use it myself with no ill effects (OEM vista ultimate, no SP1 or auto updates, only manual updates).

    regards

VistaGlazz is just another crap offset-based Uxtheme.dll patcher. Don’t bother with it.

Stevie, I believe Rafael mentions somewhere else on in his blog that you are to rename the original files once you take ownership of them, and THEN copy his patched files into windir\system32. By renaming the original files you are not “replacing” anything per se…

Is that correct Rafael? BTW thanks for the patched files man – very cool. :-)

@Backdoor Jesus: Yes, that is correct. Despite the millions of articles on the web, people still send me mail about this. I’ve discovered disregarding these requests for help force the requester to search Google, where they find their answer eventually.

All this file-based stuff will go away soon, stay tuned…

Just found the site today doing a little searching. I like to customize Windows a little, though not a die hard theme fanatic or anything but I didn’t really know this was all possible without a paid program like StyleXP or WindowBlinds etc. I have been using StyleXP for somewhere around four years and when I built a new computer about 6 months ago it took 4 emails to them before they replied with anything and gave me a new registration key for my new system. I only asked a simple question of “Do I need to purchase a new copy of StyleXP for this new system or is it possible to get a new registration key?”. Highly ridiculous that they can’t even reply.

Now a week and three days later they still have not replied to my email about supporting Windows XP SP3. I think its time I get rid of it…
